The Sports & Entertainent Centre: Name It Now
At its February 5 meeting, City Council approved a naming rights deal agreeing to put K-Rock 105.7's name on the Kingston Regional Sports and Entertainment Centre in exchange for $165,000 (gross) this year, an additional three per cent in each subsequent year for the next decade, and another $150,000 in in-kind services to bring the total value of the deal to $3.3 million over ten years.
Now it's the public's turn to complete the name by registering their choice from a shortlist of possibilities posted in an online poll. The "Name it Now" poll choices include: Centre, Place, Arena, K-Rock can choose — or voters can offer their own suggested suffix.
Voters have from now until Feb. 12 to register their name preference. The poll results will be made public on Feb. 15 and the chosen name will go to Council for approval on Feb. 19. The Kingston Frontenacs play their first hockey game at the facility on Friday, Feb. 22.
